Positive Benefits of Teaching Agency

01

Better Academic Outcomes

When students take initiative with their education, they will inevitably be more successful as they seek learning opportunities that are exciting and relevant to them. Students will have better academic outcomes when they enjoy learning with their teachers and find ways to expand their knowledge. (Chuter, 2020) Having agency motivates students to further investigate subjects they are interested in, and build upon the information presented to them.

Preperation fot Life Beyond School

In the professional realm, employees may be expected to quickly develop skills necessary in order to successfully complete tasks. People with agency are better able to take initiative to figure out what may need to be learned on the spot and confidently take on challenges. (Chuter 2020)

02

Developing a Sense of Personal Responsibility

Having a sense of personal responsibility and taking initiative to be involved in issues within the community comes from having a sense of agency. Citizens who have a further developed a sense of agency may feel inspired to take action against social issues, whether they are engaging at the local or national level. These are the people who are going to make a difference in the world we live in.

04

Improved Decision Making Skills

As students are continually tasked with making their own choices, they become experts at taking responsibility for their actions and understanding the consequences of their decisions. As students practice making choices in the supportive classroom environment, they build confidence in their decision making skills.
